Lorrie Luellig

Lorrie Luellig is the Managing Member of Luellig Legal, PLC, which is Of Counsel to Ryley Carlock & Applewhite. Her practice is dedicated to offering advice and counsel to businesses of all sizes and across many different industries to assist them in making legally compliant and sound business decisions.

Lorrie is a former shareholder of Ryley Carlock & Applewhite, where she was a founding member of the firm’s Document Control Group (“DCG”). As a founding member of the DCG, she advised clients on the creation and implementation of information retention policies and schedules and other business practices related to the organization, protection and disposition of their valued information.

Lorrie has extensive experience counseling clients about retention policies and procedures for both litigation related matters and overall company operations. She is a frequent speaker on the topic and has helped to create and implement strategies for both Fortune 100 companies and smaller privately and publicly held companies in the areas of legal and regulatory compliance, litigation holds, privacy and security issues as well as information handling and disposition.

Lorrie also has an extensive background in litigation. As a former shareholder of the Ryley Carlock & Applewhite Litigation Practice Group, Lorrie was responsible for major civil and commercial litigation. Her practice focused on areas of environmental law, real estate disputes and complex commercial litigation. Lorrie is also a former Assistant Attorney General in the Liability Management Section where was responsible for defending state agencies and counseling those agencies on public records issues with an eye towards balancing privacy and confidentiality issues with the public’s right to access information. While at the Attorney General’s office, Lorrie successfully defended the state three times before the Arizona Court of Appeals and three times before the Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals.

Lorrie received her LL.M. from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. While attending Harvard, she was also a guest lecturer at Boston College of Law. Lorrie received her J.D., magna cum laude, from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California, where she received numerous awards including three American Jurisprudence Awards in civil procedure, torts, and women and the law. She received her B.S., cum laude, from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

Lorrie received the highest score on the Arizona Bar Exam in February of 1996. She also served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Irma Gonzales, United States District Court, Southern District of California.
